Banded Belts

V-Belts Direct has the best selection and supply of banded belts and we are bringing that supply and our affordability direct to your door! What are banded belts? They transmission belts, either wedged shaped v-belts or cogged belts that have been joined together (picture 2 or more v-belts side-by-side. This forms the distinct “banded” or joined look that gives them their name.

Why would anyone do such a thing to our beloved v-belt? For some pretty good reasons, it turns out. Obviously they are commonly used in scenarios that involve matched sets of belts the same size. But when you combine them into one banded belt rather than multiple v-belts you avoid some of the problems that come from scenarios involving high vibration or belt whip that can happen when there is a long distance between pulleys or a large span, or a pulsating load. When this happens, the vibrating belts, on their own, can wind up rolling over sideways, losing their grip, or even whipping completely out of the groove altogether (totally not-groovy, man). Banded belts, can’t roll over sideways, and their joined nature prevents one belt from bouncing out.

Of course, by their very nature, banded belts will not affect each other, or even other banded belts running next to them because they are secured by the multiple grooves that they run in. This makes them ideal for situations that are a little outside of the norm, such as high power applications which typically just use chains, or in situations with irregular vibrations.

V-Belts Direct has a huge selection of banded belts but if you are unable to find what you are looking for, either in the list of categories below, or in the search bar above, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will see if we can supply you with the exact belt you’re looking for!
